RANGE SAFETY RULES

 

  • Discharge of any firearm will be on designated ranges only.

  • Keep firearm pointed in a safe direction at all times.

  • Pistol Ranges are intended for small arms only.

  • Handguns of all types are approved for use on pistol ranges. Permitted shoulder fired firearms are limited to 22 cal. rim fire and shotguns with ammunition up to and including slugs. Paper targets only.

  • All shots must strike the bottom half of the backstop.

  • Rapid fire not allowed at any time.

  • The lower pistol ranges except the CCW Range, are closed to open shooting.

  • No skip, bounce or cross range shooting by anyone.

  • No one will handle firearms with people down range.

  • No foot traffic on backstops.

  • No Mining of lead.

  • No fully automatic weapons allowed.

  • No prone shooting at targets closer than 100 yards on the rifle range. 50 yards on the pistol range.

  • Thompson Contender type handguns are allowed on the rifle range. However, these guns must be shot from the bench, no off-hand shooting, You must posses a handgun endorsement from a certified club-endorsed instructor to fire a regular type handgun on the rifle range.

  • Target shot gun ammunition, 3 dram or less, shot size 7 1/2, 8, or 9 on Trap and Skeet Fields only.

  • Shotguns with field ammunition to be patterned on the rifle range only.

  • Prohibited Arms and Ammunition: Center fire firearm larger than 50 or 12.7mm caliber, belt or drum fed, mounted on a tripod, tracer, explosive, gas, smoke, flare or incendiary type munitions.

  • Eye and ear protection is mandatory on all firearm ranges

  • In the event of a rule conflict during an organized supervised event, the event will take precedence and the event leader will be responsible.

  • Law enforcement and military units are exempt from some forearm restrictions only. No crew server weapons allowed.

  • Members are allowed to observe the law enforcement and military units using the various ranges, unless requested to leave by law enforcement agency. Members may not use any range at the same time that law enforcement or military units are using said range. If a member interferes with said units, the member will be asked to leave.
